The massive fun that is Natural Products Expo West sometimes masks the environmental values at the core of the natural products industry. But New Hope Network, the show’s producer, is committed to making that footprint as light as possible. And attendees can help.
Participate in the Linen ReUse program at your hotel.
Doing so saves water, electricity and chemicals. Plus, many hotels offer incentives for participation.
Bring and use a reusable water bottle and coffee cup.
The average attendee uses two cups per day. If all attendees brought a cup from home, we would save over 700,000 cups over four days. (Bonus: Starbucks gives a 10-cent discount for reusable cups!). Remember to skip the straw, too. Straws can't be recycled and often end up in the ocean. Join our #skipthestraw campaign and help us reduce single use plastics!
Use the compost and recycling bins at the convention center.
In 2018, Expo West recycled and composted 258,660 pounds of material. Look before you throw to help beat this number in 2019.
Use the Natural Products Expo mobile app instead of a paper program.
The mobile app has all the information you need for a successful show, plus it offers interactive features paper just can’t.
Eat at least one meat free meal during the conference.
When (and if) you do eat meat, ask for organic or 100 percent certified grassfed. Avoiding industrially-produced meat and dairy products is the single biggest way to reduce your environmental impact on the planet.
And be sure to take the Expo West Sustainability Pledge where you can turn these and other actions into commitments!
