Manufacturers continue to enroll in the Non-GMO Project as increasingly consumers and retailers look for GMO-free products. Here are 10 new foods, beverages and supplements to obtain certification.
These products may not have labels proclaiming their GMO-free status, but they're among the latest batch of foods, beverage and supplements to receive a green light from the Non-GMO Project to carry the nonprofit's Non-GMO Project Verified label. The organization okayed 118 new products just last month and evidence suggests continued interest from manufacturers as the label increasingly gains traction with consumers.
Sales in the combined natural and conventional retail channels rose a stunning 25.3 percent (more than organic, Whole Grain Council-certified and Fair Trade USA-certified) in 2010 for Non-GMO Project-Verified products, according to Schaumburg, Ill.-based market research firm SPINS.
