30 servings SRP: $79.99 This product features the branded ingredient Dynamine, which is methylliberine—a potent alkaloid found in kucha tea with a faster onset than caffeine. There’s also 100 mg caffeine (the only SKU we’re featuring here that contains any); 300 mg KSM-66 brand ashwagandha (I’d prefer 300 twice daily which is what the published research mostly uses); a proper 200 mg dose of L-theanine to chill you out without getting drowsy; and a raft of other ingredients to fire up consumers cognitively like bacopa and from a performance standpoint like beta-alanine.
60 servings per container SRP: $24.95 It’s good to see energy formulas that do not automatically go for the caffeine. Himalaya uses Ayurvedic herbs in its formulations that can be unfamiliar to Western consumers but count as bona fide drugs in India. This herbal blend is designed to quell stress, improve mood and restore energy. Amla, known as Indian gooseberry, is perhaps the most important medicinal plant in all of Ayurveda. Haritake (Chebulic myrobalan) is an antioxidant, an inflammation modulator and is also a neuroprotectant that’s being investigated around the world for its potential effects on Alzheimer’s. Boerhavia is used in Ayurveda to enhance antiaging and support disease prevention.
10 servings per container SRP: $19.99 Of all the adaptogens, Korean red ginseng (Panax ginseng) does not rank at the top. It usually takes four or five years before the plant is used. The vertically integrated CheongKwanJang brand—founded in 1899—waits for six years to use its Korean red ginseng. While defined as an adaptogen, it is used traditionally in Korea to address negative mood states, function and resilience. It is marketed for sustained energy, fatigue recovery and focus. One published human clinical using 900 mg three times a day for eight weeks showed 60% of the 45 patients said it helped with erectile dysfunction (ED). Another study showed efficacy on mild to moderate ED after 12 weeks using 1,000 mg three times daily, without raising hormone levels.
30 servings per container SRP: $29.95 From the brand that pretty much put the master mineral, magnesium, on the map, Natural Vitality has now rolled out its signature magnesium only this time in soft, delicious gummies. Each gummy includes 1 gram of sugar and 83 mg magnesium in the citrate form. Magnesium has the effect of relaxing muscles, and according to lore helps improve dreams. What’s not to like?
20 servings per container SRP: $12.99 At first there was the conundrum of whether to categorize this as an energy supplement or one for immune support. It contains a suite of eight B vitamins, plus vitamins C and D. On the front of the box it lists “natural berry with elderberry” in a purple box—same color as the leading immunity botanical. The side of the box is also colored in that elderberry purple. But elderberry is not listed in the supplements facts panel, nor in the list of ingredients. On one side panel it lists “elderberry flavor.” And that is truly the extent of its elderberry inclusion. That makes this a stretch to list as an immune-support supplement. The single satchels are convenient, and the product contains nothing artificial or any preservatives, which is nice. But the suggestion that it contains elderberry when it does not is a poor practice.
25 scoops per container SRP: $29.95 The Whole Earth and Sea line from Natural Factors is clean nutrition. This fermented, organic powder features the vitalicious maca—which captured the world’s attention a few years ago. Also included is the king of the adaptogens, ashwagandha, as well as a host of mushrooms like endurance-boosting cordyceps and fatigue fighter reishi.

Not to miss out on the latest trends even with the cancellation of Natural Products Expo West in March, New Hope Network surveyed dozens of supplement companies to find what’s coming out of their innovation pipeline to help facilitate valuable introductions to retailers.
Energy is right at the top of consumer concerns, and supplement makers are responding to this need by developing non-coffee pick-me-ups for sustained energy without the coffee-style crash.
