Myriad food and beverage brands are focused on mitigating environmental damage. From companies that source local to reduce fossil fuels associated with transportation, to those that power facilities with wind and solar energy, sustainable food manufacturing is a common, and often expected, story.
But supplement brands? That story isn't told as often. That's why we were impressed to hear of Rainbow Light's recent commitment to reduce ocean plastic with its new microsite that speaks to the benefits of recycled plastic packaging. The company packages supplements in their trademarked EcoGuard container, made from 100 percent recycled plastic. Switching to the bottle allowed Rainbow Light to reduce its carbon footprint by a remarkable 92 percent.
Now, the company wants other brands to do the same. Rainbow Light partnered with 5 Gyres to create a video highlighting how ocean plastic is a global issue, and provides ample sourcing and operational information to "help other conscious companies evaluate sustainable packaging options," according to a press release.
