As a result of a competitive process, Michelle Boudreau has been selected as Director General of the Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD) effective September 8, 2008.

Ms. Boudreau was instrumental in the development of the NHP Regulations, and participated in NHPD's cross-country consultations with industry and consumers. She provided legal counsel to NHPD, the Therapeutic Products Directorate (TPD) and the Inspectorate for a number of years through the Department of Justice before joining the Health Protection Branch in 2005 as Acting Associate Director General of the Inspectorate. She moved on to become Acting Director, Litigation Support and Document Management Services with TPD. Most recently, she was the Director of the Inspectorate's Compliance and Enforcement group before moving to the Deputy Minister's Office as an Executive Advisor.

Ms. Boudreau has a background in law and pharmacy, and enjoys excellent relations with NHP stakeholders.

Boudreau was on hand at this past weekend's Canadian Health Food Association Expo East in Toronto, to participate in sessions, meet with CHFA members, and to walk the show floor.
