WEBINAR: Human Clinical Data: pTeroPure® Pterostilbene UpdateWEBINAR: Human Clinical Data: pTeroPure® Pterostilbene Update
October 30, 2012
pTeroPure® pterostilbene (tero-STILL-bean) is ChromaDex®'s first proprietary, patented and branded ingredient to market with seven patents issued or pending. Pterostilbene is a natural antioxidant found in blueberries, one of the most antioxidant-rich foods in the world. Pterostilbene has superior biological activity, better oral bioavailability and metabolizes more slowly in the body than other antioxidant polyphenols (substances from plants that tend to prevent or neutralize the damaging effects of free radicals), resulting in more prolonged antioxidant activity.
pTeroPure is the only pterostilbene to be clinically studied and have self-affirmed Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) status, a designation by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stating an ingredient in food is considered safe. In 2010, it was recognized as "Most Promising Ingredient of the Year" by Frost & Sullivan.
A clinical trial, conducted by the University of Mississippi Medical Center, evaluated pTeroPure for multiple health benefits. The study showed statistically significant results for blood pressure and verified that pterostilbene is safe for humans.
