Good Farms looked to its ditches to turn food waste into an opportunity for its farmer partners. Here's why it hopes the launch will succeed.
Good Farms went from produce grower to packaged product purveyor at Natural Products Expo West 2017 when the brand launched its Cold Pressed Organic Strawberry Juice Beverage.
The product uses some of the 20 percent of strawberries that Good Farms grows but doesn't sell as fresh because of their size or appearance. Historically those strawberries went to food donation agencies (some still will) or to the ditch to rot.
Diversifying will allow the company to grow its Fair Trade USA and Equitable Food Initiative efforts for both farmers and land.
Here, Chief Tinkerer Tom Lyons chats about solving a food waste issue and serving farmers along the way.
