Food allergies are on the rise, affecting everyone from the kid down the street to the New York socialite in the Dolce & Gabbana frock. The latter could be seen at this year’s 13^th Annual Food Allergy Ball, held Dec. 6at the Waldorf Astoria in New York and presented by the Food Allergy Initiative (FAI).

Aside from offering well-heeled and sensitive foodies an array of allergen-free delights, including crudite with fine herb sauce and quail egg and frisee salad, the event was designed to drive awareness of life-threatening food allergies and raise money to support FAI’s research into food allergy cures. This year’s event raised more than $4.5 million.
