Cultivating young farmers: A 9-year-old, an idea and love at first sproutCultivating young farmers: A 9-year-old, an idea and love at first sprout
We continue to be inspired by everyone in the industry who is doing their part to galvanize young farmers and accelerate access to all. One tiny human is doing big work on this front.
Meet Te'Lario Watkins II. This 9-year-old boy knows a thing or two about growing mushrooms. He and his family have set up an entire working mushroom farm inside their home. It all began with a Cub Scout project about seedlings: catnip and basil. It was love at first sprout. If you attended Natural Products Expo West, you might have heard Te'Lario, along with Back to the Roots, Demeter and The Ron Finley Project exploring the future of farming.
This session, a part of our larger Accelerating Access to Grow Your Business track is sponsored by Esca Bona and our partners at 301 INC and BeyondBrands. With the help of our partners, who continue to support a shift in our broken food system, we're able to bring sessions like these to life. We believe that one of the foundational pillars of this shift is growing access to healthy foods—starting with the youngest consumers and farmers.
Catch Te'Lario Watkins II at Natural Products Expo West.
