For a long time, personal care products came with superfluous amounts of packaging made of bulky plastic and other wasteful materials. More recently however, the category has been making strides toward reducing packaging volume and using more sustainable materials. As a result, what once was an aisle lined in excessive plastic could soon be the leader in improved packaging.
Never has this been more apparent than on the show floor at September's Natural Products Expo East, where New Hope Network’s editors spotted a range of personal care brands using compostable and recyclable materials, and reducing waste by offering reusable packaging options.
Consumers have long been conscious of the ingredients in their personal care products while also seeking high-quality, effective formulas. With consumers' increasing concerns about the environment, packaging sustainably is becoming an important differentiating factor in their purchasing decisions.
