  • The second annual "Organic Night Out" at Expo West celebrates the industry's accomplishments in 2024.
  • The March 5 gala supports Organic Voices, a nonprofit that gathers scientific evidence of organic products' many benefits.
  • Nominations for the nine awards, which are open to U.S. and international people and entities, must be received by Jan. 10.

Passionate stakeholders packed a ballroom at last year’s Natural Products Expo West to celebrate the organic industry. The inaugural event ranked as such a triumph that it's returning to Natural Products Expo West on March 5 at the Anaheim Marriott.

The upcoming gathering, “An Organic Night Out with Sprouts and Friends,” will spotlight retailers, brands, companies and researchers that delivered especially powerful advances in the organic industry during 2024. It also will explore key organic topics such as crop production, climate and sustainability, and offer plenty of networking opportunities for industry enthusiasts.

The Organic Center and Organic Voices will once again serve as hosts. Organic pioneer Gary Hirshberg, co-founder of Stonyfield Farms and founder of Organic Voices, will emcee the awards ceremony.

“We are honored to again be recognizing and celebrating the exemplary work of individuals, brands and companies to educate consumers about organic,” Hirshberg said in a news release. “The response we received to our inaugural Organic Night Out was incredibly enthusiastic, and we look forward to another evening to highlight the outstanding successes of an extraordinary and inspiring group of organic visionaries.”

In addition to bringing together the organic industry’s wide-ranging participants for an evening of education, networking and celebration, the event helps fund The Organic Center, a nonprofit devoted to evidence-based science behind the nutritional and environmental advantages of organic food and farming. It’s the organization’s principal fundraising event.

“The organic community’s generosity underwrites cutting-edge organic science and enables The Center’s ongoing creation of user-friendly content on the benefits of organic for human health and the environment, and ensures that consumers understand the positive impact of choosing organic, said Amber Sciligo, director of science programs for The Organic Center.

The event revolves around all stakeholders, from start-up brands crafting organic nut butters to thought leaders in Washington, D.C.; organic farmers in Wisconsin; and nonprofits advancing organic goals through education and advocacy. One of the industry’s most important forces—retailers—also figure largely into the celebration.

Natural grocery retailer Sprouts Farmers Market, which lines the shelves of its more than 400 stores with better-for-you foods and products, has become an especially powerful industry advocate. “Sprouts is proud to support ‘An Organic Night Out,’ bringing together leaders and innovators dedicated to helping people live and eat better,” said Kim Coffin, chief forager of Sprouts, the event's marquee sponsor, in a news release. “Events like these play an essential role in educating consumers on the importance of organic choices for both personal health and the planet. We’re excited to celebrate the impactful achievements across the industry that continue to make organic options more accessible to everyone.”
