An innovative entry in the water world: pressed artichokes. Yup, there's an entire artichoke in one bottle, plus fresh mint, lemon, and monk fruit plus a tad of agave to sweeten. The claims of artichokes’ benefits are over the top: antimicrobial, promotes maintenance of healthy skin, delays skin aging, boosts weight loss, and more. But it’s such an intriguing idea, and I really enjoyed the taste: vegetal without being a veggie juice. (The product is so new I had to take a screen shot; the bottles at Expo weren't even labeled yet.)
Sound it out: “watermelon water.” I was pretty psyched to try this cold-pressed juice, and it didn’t disappoint. Delicious taste and two, count ‘em, two ingredients: watermelon and a bit of lemon. The secret, they told me, is that they press the rind too. I do wish it were organic (even if watermelon is on the “clean 15” list), but I just couldn’t resist the refreshing taste. Plus I love the high potassium count. Could this be the next coconut water?
I happened upon this at exactly the right time: Califia had a professional barista at the booth who was turning out unbelievably good, completely vegan (and gluten-free) lattes with the new Barista Blend almondmilk. Creamy, foamy, and decadent. Plus it comes in a shelf-stable package. Every coffee store worth its beans should start stocking this immediately (I’m talking to you, Starbucks).
My husband, a coffee fanatic, went to the show for the first time this year and brought home a flier for this B Corp certified brand, which he calls this the best coffee he’s had in ages. Every blend is fair-trade certified, USDA Organic, roasted in a carbon-neutral facility, and rooted in an environmental-stewardship and transparency mindset, with QR codes that detail country of origin, co-op certification, and more. I love the fun, modern, and humorous icons noting the different flavors (e.g., a ticking bomb for the “Bold” variety).
Check out the bottle shape: Remind you of anything? That’s right: GoodOnYa, makers of a tasty and organic energy bar, intentionally borrowed Gatorade’s look to launch their new sports hydration drink that’s USDA Organic, filled with electrolytes, free of scary fake stuff and colors, and yummy. Wouldn’t it be great to see these showing up at soccer sidelines and dumped over winning coaches?
These gorgeous tisanes, created by a deeply passionate herbal expert, aren’t strained like other teas; all the herbs and flowers remain right there in the bottom of the jar, infusing the tea as you drink (plus when you’re done you can refill the jar for less-concentrated teas). Mixtures are designed for therapeutic benfits and are sweetened with goji; plus you end up with an easily reusable jar.
