Who doesn’t love protein? Judging by the number of high-protein products at Natural Products Expo East 2014, everyone is on track to increase their intake of this vital nutrient.
What’s new are the increasingly creative and sustainable approaches to protein. Paleo products (hello, jerky) still abound, but many focus on less meat and more nuts and fruits. Whey protein makes a strong showing but in cleaner, easier products, often balanced with plant-based sources as well. And let’s not forget the bugs: Insect protein is, we predict, here to stay.
