Maple Hill Farms Maple Kefir: Finally, a kefir that I can feel good about giving my four kiddos. Made in Nature’s Figgy Pops: Pop-able bites of real food wrapped around nut butters. Once I pop, I can’t stop!
Siete Foods Cassava Flour Tortilla Chips: The first grain-free tortilla chip to hit the market. For those following a paleo or grain-free diet, these are a lifesaver. Bonafide Drinkable Veggies: Innovation at its best. Such a perfect way to turn bone broth into a RTD concept for those on the go. My Magic Mud Fluoride-Free Whitening Toothpaste: I was a huge fan of Mr. Magic Mud’s powder, but this product creates far less of a mess. All you need to do is look at the white teeth of those working the booth to know this stuff is the real deal. 4th & Heart Ghee Oil Spray: As far as I’ve seen, this is the first ghee cooking oil spray to hit the market. Not only that, it’s grass-fed like all the rest of 4th & Heart’s delicious ghee products. Vixen Kitchen Paleo Vegan Gelato: Dairy-free ice cream without the junk. Made with cashews, these tasty ice creams are organic and contain no gums or fillers.
Mr Mak’s Original Dynasty Gin Bao: The Chinese drink ginger bao daily to aid in digestion, increase vitality and strengthen the immune system, and I can see why. I tried Mr Mak’s Gin Bao in the Dynasty flavor and loved how I felt afterwards. This FODMAP-friendly longbrew drink calmed my stomach and gave me more energy as I made my way through the busy Expo West. Truly Supplements Probiotic: I love chocolate, but I especially love how my low-FODMAP followers and clients can receive the added benefits of a probiotic and enjoy a product that is 70 percent cacao dark chocolate, and also gluten- and dairy-free. Co Yo Coconut Milk Yogurt Alternative: Co Yo, where have you been all my life? This is a super-clean yogurt and has the most delicious, velvety smooth texture and taste. Just look at the ingredients: coconut cream, tapioca, pectin and probiotic cultures. Dairy-free, gluten-free, no added sugar, no gums, no carrageenan, which is all good news for anyone following the low-FODMAP diet. It’s also paleo certified, vegan, non-GMO, soy-free and kosher. FODMAPPED Red Curry Simmer Sauce: FODMAPPED makes it easy to follow the low-FODMAP diet with its range of simmer and stir fry sauces, pasta sauces, stock and soups. Its Red Curry Simmer Sauce and other products are certified low in FODMAPs, and are full of delectable flavor, so anyone in the family can enjoy them and never know the products were made for an elimination diet. Qrunch Original Quinoa Breakfast Toastables: I am a big fan of quinoa and millet. Both are FODMAP-friendly and nutritious, and the marriage of them in these Qrunch Original Quinoa Breakfast Toastables was one of the smartest food products I’ve ever discovered.
Jar Goods: I am not a huge fan of tomato sauce in jars or cans, so I usually make it myself, but this sauce is just amazing. It's tasty, fresh, has an intoxicating aroma, all natural, clean label, and of course non-GMO. Kevita Cleansing Probiotic Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic: I drink apple cider vinegar every morning, but I am not a huge fan of the taste. But this is how a feel-good probiotic should taste. Bonus: it’s low in calories and every bottle has four strains of live probiotics and 4 billion CFUs. The real beauty from the inside out. The Dirt Trace Mineral Tooth Brushing Powder: This year I am all about oral heath, which is the reason why this is one of my favorite products at Expo West. Great, clean ingredients, paleo friendly, and made to allow your natural re-mineralization process to do its thing and get your teeth back to their strong, sparkly selves. Skinny & Co.: Speaking of oral heath, I was impressed with so many varieties of oil pulling, but Skinny & Co. caught my eye. This beauty detox in a jar has a refreshing taste, is big enough to last a few months and has ingredients that you can trust to put into your mouth. Noyah Baby: If you are a mom and a Chapstick lover like I am, you may have experienced the anxiety and worry when you find your cute little ones eating your Chapstick. Fear no more with Organic Baby Lip Balm, the first edible lip balm made as actual food that is also natural and organic, has no preservatives, artificial colors or fragrances, and is never tested on animals.
Ozery Bakery Vegan Brioche: This is hands down the softest, fluffiest vegan bread I have ever tried! It is just sweet enough and melts in your mouth. Rule Breaker Chickpea Chocolate Chunk Blondie: My favorite healthy desserts—you’d never know these fluffy bites of goodness are made with chickpeas. Leaf Cuisine Onion Chive NOT Cream Cheese Spread: This dairy-free cheese spread has that fermented taste we all love about cheese but in a healthier form made with cashews! I can’t wait to have a vegan wine and crackers night with this. Oatly Oat Milk: A super creamy dairy-free milk that you don’t even need to add sweetener to—delicious in cappuccino! Sweet Earth Mediterranean Veggie Burger: It’s no wonder this veggie burger won a NEXTY Award; it’s tender, full of flavor, and made with great ingredients.
Boulder Organic! Chicken Noodle Soup: I've loved this refrigerated gluten-free soup company since it started! I've seen it grow every year and add lots more delicious flavors. Most are free from dairy—including this new chicken noodle soup. They've been working on finding a sturdy noodle for this soup for a while, and they've found one that doesn't end up soggy! This should be in select Target stores this summer. Canyon Bakehouse Heritage Style Loaf: This new, wider loaf from Canyon Bakehouse is definitely big enough to stack your favorite sandwich fixins' and condiments on top. It's free from gluten and dairy, but does contain egg. It's soft and fluffy and shelf-stable! Celiacs and those who avoid gluten need to find this. Cybele's Free to Eat Superfood Veggie Pasta: Has there been lentil pasta launched at Expo West every year? Yes, but this, I promise, is unique. These noodles have a ton of unique veggies packed into each of the five unique flavors. My favorite is the one that features cauliflower and parsnips, but the red lentil, pumpkin and butternut squash is great too! Daiya Pumpkin Spice Cheezecake: My top favorites at Expo West typically include new launches from Daiya Foods, because they're all gluten-free and dairy-free too (as well as vegan). I can eat anything of theirs, and they thankfully sample everything at the show on gluten-free bread and crackers. Follow Your Heart Rocket Cakes: This is an easy pancake and waffle batter that is not only delicious but also non-GMO, organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, nut-free and vegan. It's also ready-to-eat—just squeeze the rocket into a hot pan or waffle maker!
Cocomels Coconut Milk Caramels: Indulge in hand-crafted, dairy-free caramel chocolate candies. Owner JJ, known as the Willy Wonka of non-dairy candies, had ingenious thinking that created a game-changer. Natierra Superfoods: This high-quality, organic superfood company provides chia seeds, hemp seeds, cacao powder, etc. Their "Feed a Soul" Program will feed 1 million children in Haiti by next Expo West in 2018. The program has no maximum limit. Native State Purely Pinole: The first company to introduce ancient superfood created by the Aztecs and Mayans. Pinole is a roasted ground maize, combined with cocoa, cinnamon, chia seeds, vanilla or other spices. This powder is nutrient-dense and can be used as a cereal, in baked goods or beverages. 4SOME: This was inspired by the story of co-founder Dr. Depen, who was on a mission to create natural protein drinks without artificial ingredients. 4Some are plant-powered, cold-pressed smoothies made from four ingredients: fruits, vegetables, seeds and whole grains. Our favorite was the green smoothie named "50 shades of Green." Buddha Teas Matcha Now: Bottled purified water with fresh, ceremonial grade matcha sealed in the cap. When ready, twist the cap to release powder, shake, and you have a healthy, refreshing drink—a very innovative product.
Rebbl: A delicious drink with so many flavors that are packed with super vitamins and food. These drinks make health and recovery taste sooo good. Sir Kensington's: They have raised the bar on condiments, especially healthy condiments. They have simple ingredients, delicious flavors and options for everyone, from avocado oil mayonnaise to spicy ketchup. Vital Proteins: I always have trouble with recovery, and Vital Proteins' collagen peptides make it easy for me to add collagen to my water, coffee or smoothies and get all the benefits with no taste at all. Laird Superfoods: I love these products because they use whichever delivery vessel you prefer to deliver all the benefits. Use it as a coffee creamer, smoothie mix or bake with it secretly to load yourself with all the super food benefits. Cave Shake: This is the first paleo- and ketogenic-friendly shake that I have found that tastes delicious. They have a wide array of flavors, and this is perfect whenever you need a quick shake. Curoxen: The most natural, three-ingredient, organic first-aid ointment ... This stuff has been tested and shown to be six times more effective than the chemical-ridden alternatives on the market.
CoYo Natural Coconut Milk Yogurt: It's difficult to find no-sugar-added-vegan yogurts, however, COYO has you covered, or at least their natural flavor does. This brand's natural flavor is tart, yet offers a little sweetness thanks to the coconut base. Swerve Sweetener: This amazing sweetener is actually erythritol, a sugar alternative that has no glycemic index and is mostly absorbed in the small intestine and excreted in urine, thus you don't necessarily have to worry about the laxative effect that comes with some sugar replacements. Lily's Vegan Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt: I am not the type to really like chocolate, but this blew me away, and my life will forever be changed. The combination of the rich chocolate, with a hint of sweetness thanks to stevia, and the hunks of sea salt are a true taste bud pleaser. Chickpeatos: These will be the next big game-day snack. These little babies please all palates thanks to the array of flavors, including cinnamon toast. On top of that, all varieties are 100 percent vegan yet have 6 grams of protein per serving! Lakanto Matcha Latte and Drinking Chocolate: This monk fruit sweetener is a game changer. For 10 to 15 calories per serving, you get the most deliciously sweet and mouth-pleasing drinks you will ever slurp down. Primal Essence Coconut Oils: Wait, what? Oh, my goodness. This isn't real. Where am I? Yes, I said all of those phrases the first time I ever tried Primal Essence Coconut Oils. These oils are above and beyond the most amazing oils I have ever tasted in my entire life. That's a bold statement but I stand by it.
Beyond Meat's Beyond Burger: Beyond Meat really nailed it with the appearance and texture of this burger; it's almost too "real" for this vegan. Wow! Tofurky Ham: Tofurky's new savory vegan ham comes complete with a tasty sweet beer sauce in the package; convenient and perfect for holiday celebrations! YUM! Vanilla Ripple: It takes a lot to satiate my vegan sweet tooth, but Vanilla Ripple really hits the spot—and it's made from split peas, so it's great for those with soy or nut allergies, too. Veggie Sausage Ravioli: Love the convenience; just toss into a pot of boiling water, and voilà: tasty vegan ravioli! Watkins Food Coloring: No artificial FD&C colors or carmine/cochineal (squished bugs) here! Watkins natural colors are made from 100 percent veggies and spices.
Juniper Ridge: Saying yes to adventure and the great outdoors is even more fun when you have great smelling products like Trail Soap, thanks to Juniper Ridge. Amazing Grass Greens Superfood: The lemon-lime flavor in this is so refreshing, and the rebranding of the entire product packaging line is amazing and makes it so easy to shop. Pacifica's Kale product line: This 100 percent vegan product line is gorgeously packaged and contains wonderful plant-powered ingredients such as kale—they're seriously turning veganism into the luxurious lifestyle. Sip by Swell: Swell continues to create high-quality products ... yet now at a lower price point to expand their market and make teenage girls' lunch boxes full of spunk. Miyokos Kitchen: If my eyes were closed when I tasted this, I would have had no clue this was vegan cheese—it's that good!
GF Harvest Go-Packs: Certified gluten-free and purity protocol instant oats in a flat cardboard container that pops up to form a square bowl with the oat pack already inside. Simply add boiling water and stir. Millet Tots: Certified organic, and offering protein, iron, potassium and fiber without added sugar or the oil component of most potato tots, these poppers somehow stay remarkably crunchy on the outside and satisfyingly starchy on the inside. La Colombe Draft Latte: Draft lattes take frothy, café-style coffees on the go in unique cans with plastic lids to protect your lips while you sip. A valve in the can ensures the frothy texture, whether in their dairy milk lattes or the coconut milk latte, which I particularly enjoyed. VeganEgg Liquid Egg: Customer feedback led to the development of this new incarnation of their VeganEgg. The texture and taste is really spot-on—exciting stuff for those who can’t enjoy eggs but appreciate a good scramble. Barnana Chewy Banana Bites: Made with organic, fair trade coffee and potassium-rich organic bananas, these bites are hard to resist any time of day. Glutenfreeda Savory Cups: I was pleased to see oats showing up beyond breakfast at Expo West. When grown under the purity protocol and certified gluten-free, oats can be an incredibly healthy, fiber-rich addition to a gluten-free diet. Glutenfreeda has run with the concept of oats-for-lunch or dinner, and their new Savory Cups are proof of this great concept. Eat Your Coffee: Boasting the caffeine of an entire cup of coffee in every bar, flavor combinations like coconut mocha keep things interesting when combined with the crunch of coffee beans. No Whey: These chocolates are all remarkably vegan, plant-based, free of the eight top allergens plus gluten, and free of artificial colors and flavors.
Siete Family Foods: Based in Austin, Texas, Siete makes tortillas and tortilla chips that have an authentic texture, without wheat, gluten, dairy, corn, rice, soy or preservatives! Cappello's: A Colorado-based company making paleo-friendly pastas, frozen pizzas and cookie doughs. Grain-free, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, low glycemic and non-GMO. Simple Mills: They make delicious baking mixes, crackers, cookies, frostings and sprouted seed crackers, all with no grain, dairy, gluten, soy, GMOs, artificial flavors, fillers or excessive sugar.
Hope Black Garlic Hummus: This unique new flavor by Hope Hummus is by far my favorite! I love that they use organic ingredients. New Barn Barista Almond Milk: Everything New Barn makes is amazing, but this new almond milk made specifically for coffee shops is just perfect! Can't wait to see it in every coffee shop! Vixen Kitchen Vegan Gelato: This was my first time trying this company's gelato and it was love at first bite. Cashew based, sweetened with maple syrup, and so delicious. Miyoko’s Kitchen Smoked Mozzarella: I know I won't be alone in choosing this item for my top five, but it deserves every accolade. Melty, gooey and flavorful! Hunter Gatherer Foods Pili Nuts: Wild harvested, hand harvested, hand shucked, and delicious. Doesn't get much better than that!
Wilde Snacks Turkey Cranberry Bar: Wilde Snacks created a premium lean meat protein bar that lets me snack on a Thanksgiving feast all year long—a turkey cranberry bar made with slow-roasted, free-range turkey tenderloin, and it’s non-GMO, paleo friendly, gluten free, nut free, dairy free, soy free, and low in fat, sugar and sodium! Ozery Bakery Brioche Bites: Ozery Bakery blew my mind with the soft, yummy chewiness of its vegan brioche. Using ALGAE to replace typical brioche ingredients, such as butter, milk and eggs, decreases the cholesterol, saturated fat and sugar per gram, and increases the fiber compared to standard brioche. KonaRed Kauai Caramel Cold Brew Coffee: I love the antioxidant boost when I drink cold-brew coffee made from premium Kona and Colombian coffee beans infused with the nutritional benefits of 100 percent Hawaiian coffeeberry, but the heavenly all-natural sweetness of the Kauai Caramel blend stood out as a taste champion in my mind. Numo Beef Bone Broth Kit: Numo gives me real bones from 100 percent grass-fed beef, plus herbs, vegetables and spices without any MSG, gluten, added salt or preservatives—all in a convenient package that I just tear open, toss into a crock pot, add water and slow cook for 12 hours; it’s easy to prepare without sacrificing made-from-scratch flavor. Schultz’s Spicy Mesquite BBQ Sauce: As a native of Kansas City, I’m a barbecue fanatic, and I am fantastically surprised by the zesty lip-smackin’ goodness of this low-sodium and low-calorie bottled sauce with a real-food ingredient list that reads like a recipe I could whip up in my own kitchen—but who has time to do that?
Little Secrets: This is the first natural version of candy-coated chocolates that has completely nailed the taste I'm looking for in a candy. Rebbl Turmeric Lemon Tart: I didn't think I could enjoy another Rebbl drink as much as I enjoy the Turmeric Golden-Milk, but the Lemon Tart milk is my new favorite. One Degree Sprouted Turmeric Tortillas: I love that One Degree Organic Foods connects consumers to their food and the farmers who grow it by making every ingredient traceable. They had several new products this year, but their sprouted turmeric tortillas intrigued me the most! Mighty Organic Beef Sticks: Very few meat and dairy products that say "grass-fed" on the label are 100 percent grassfed AND organic—but these sticks are, and they taste superb too! Back to the Roots cereal: I love everything about Back to the Roots—that their cereals have just three ingredients; that they're working with public schools to get high-quality, low-sugar options into the school breakfast programs; and that they source directly from organic and biodynamic farms. The founders are true visionaries and supporting this company is like voting with your dollar for a safer, healthier food system.
Cave Man Foods Chicken Bites, Sweet & Smoky: I like having jerky as a snack but don't always like how tough it is. These chicken bites were a good size and very tender. They make a great protein-packed snack. I'm already looking up where I can buy them! Wilde Snacks Chicken Chips: This was by far the most innovative product I saw at Expo West. Tastes like a thin potato chip but it's not a potato chip—it's made with chicken! These gluten-free, grain-free chips pack 15 grams of protein per serving. They come out this summer and I am really looking forward to it! Nutiva Liquid Coconut Oil: Another trend I noticed on the show floor was liquid versions of solid oils like coconut oil and ghee. On a hot summer day, my coconut oil looks like this but otherwise I have to melt it first. Nutiva launched a liquid coconut oil at the show and this is soon to be a staple in my kitchen! Fourth & Heart Ghee Oil Cooking Spray: I was introduced to this brand two years ago at Expo West and have loved seeing them grow. This year, they debuted a grass-fed ghee oil and ghee oil cooking spray. The cooking spray is the first clean cooking spray I've seen on the market. No more having to melt ghee to grease a pan. I'm sold! Mikey's Sliced Bread: I've been a fan of Mikey's grain-free English muffins and was blown away by their paleo-inspired sliced bread. This product isn’t new, but it was new to me. Each slice has 5 grams of carbs and 5 grams of protein. This product exceeded all my expectations—I can't believe a grain-free bread can taste this good!
Daiya American Slices: This was the first time I tasted a vegan cheese that truly took me back to my childhood (think Kraft American slices in the individual plastic wraps, remember those?) It was delicious both cold out of the fridge and melty hot in a grilled cheese. Follow Your Heart Rocket Cakes: Finally, an easy and delicious way to have vegan and gluten-free pancakes any time you want. Follow Your Heart got together with Spork Foods to create this ready-to-pour pancake batter from a bottle. All you need is a pan and you have fresh, homemade pancakes in seconds. Field Roast Miniature Corn Dogs: Field Roast launched 10 new products at Expo West this weekend. TEN! I think they deserve some kind of award for that alone. My favorite were the little corn dog bites. They just do their plant-based sausages so well, so having them in these little bite-sized corn dogs is really going to make my year. They were delicious all the way through and the only one of its kind that I've seen this year. Forager Dairy-Free Drinkable Cashewgurt: Forager’s milks, creamers, yogurts and even drinkable yogurts were the best in show, and I love that they're made of simple ingredients and packed with the same probiotics and nutrients you get in your typical kefir drink. I can’t wait to stock up on these when I see them at my stores. Tofurky DIY Burgers: I have to give it up to Tofurkey for taking me by surprise with their DIY Burgers. They're packaged just like ground beef, however they're seasoned to perfection and 100 percent cruelty-free. The veggie burger possibilities are endless with this innovative new product. I'm thinking sliders, quarter pounders, and juicy square burgers—we can finally have it our way!
Happy Campers Gluten Free Bread: First, I just LOVE their name. Second, their bread is delicious and you wouldn’t know that it was gluten free or allergy friendly unless you looked at the package. A good friend asked me to find a gluten-free, dairy-free food while at Expo West. The Cravin’ Raisin Cinnamon Spice Bread was my overall favorite, but every slice I tried was delicious. Kuju Pocket Pour Over Coffee: This was the best thing I found! People like a great cup of coffee outdoors. This is a coffee pouch that has attached wings you pull out and rest on the sides of your cup. Boil water and pour over the pouch for a great cup of coffee anywhere you are. Nuun Hydration Vitamin Tablets: Hydration is made easy with these convenient effervescent tablets from Nuun. They're packaged in a plastic cylinder for easy carrying in a hiking pack, gym bag or purse. Drop a tablet in 16 ounces of water for a boost of vitamins and caffeine. Nuun introduced three new flavors, and Ginger Lemonade is my favorite because it can be enjoyed hot or cold. Love Crunch Granola Bars from Nature’s Path: Love Crunch granola has been a staple in our house for some time. They now took this favorite and created snack bars, making them more convenient to enjoy anywhere. They are sourced with organic ingredients and fair-trade cocoa. Dinner Hero from Revolution Foods: Revolution Foods has been cleaning up the food in public schools and is now moving into our pantries. These are self-contained meals in a box made with real ingredients. You just add your protein, and in less than 30 minutes, dinner can be on the table. For nights when I don’t really want to cook, this will be a good go-to option.
Curoxen First Aid Ointment: This fixes boo boos without the endocrine disrupting chemicals. Hydro Flask: They have a special container for my wine now, so I can picnic discreetly. Nona Lim: They have amazing tasting bone broth soups. Forager: This company doesn't waste anything and uses leftover ingredients to make chips! They also have the best tasting cashew milk with few ingredients. Aqua: These sparkling water drinks are all natural without sugar. My favorite is the mocha one!
Prana Chai: It is absolutely delicious—with just tea, herbs, spices and pure honey, it's one of the best chai teas I've had. Vivoo chocolates: Pure 100 percent chocolate does not contain sugar and is often too bitter to enjoy on its own, but Vivoo's version is delightful! Wild Zora: Meat bars and jerky can be hit or miss, but all of the Wild Zora flavors are delicious, well-sourced and offer a boost of organic fruits and veggies. Money on Honey caramels: These are ridiculously good and top my must-buy list for healthier indulgences. Numo Broth: All things bone broth were HOT at Expo West, and while many had slightly unique properties, Numo is the only DIY bone broth kit with grass-fed and organic ingredients I've encountered.
Nona Lim Carrot Ginger Soup: The creamiest, best paleo soup I tasted all weekend. NUUN Vitamins: This vitamin and electrolyte-enhanced drink tasted awesome, and I think it's a great solution for an everyday supplement as well as a long-distance electrolyte "boost." Mikey's Original Flavor English Muffins: Every single thing I tried was amazing, but the Original Flavor English Muffins are incredible because they contain just six basic ingredients, and are gluten and grain free, and paleo certified. Made In Nature Figgy Pops Nutter and Jelly: Made In Nature already had Figgy Pops, but now they filled them with almond and cashew butter. These are dessert in a ball! MopTop Natural Hair Care Products: I have looked high and low for a great, all-natural hair care product line for kinky/coily hair, and I finally found it!
Ozery Bakery Brioche Bites: These little heavenly bites were served warm with a homemade nutella and strawberry slice. Made with better-for-you ingredients, the brioche is DIVINE! Perfect Bar Dark Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter with Sea Salt: I already loved Perfect Bars before, but this new flavor is out of this world delicious, and I can't wait to get my hands on them in my local grocery stores! Simple Mills Vanilla Frosting: The lightest, most fluffy vanilla frosting with an ingredient list I can get behind and an unmatched flavor! Frau Fowler Tooth & Gum Powder: Excellent product on the market for the best dental and oral health with great flavor and even better benefits. JJS Cocomels: Specifically, the sea salt Cocomel made with coconut milk is creamy, chocolatey and the perfect amount of salty!

That’s why we asked our crack #ExpoBlogger team to select five products to highlight as inventive, forward-thinking and too good to miss. Here are their top picks from the show floor.
