7 emerging brands to compete at Naturally Bay Area's Pitch Slam
Naturally Bay Area is giving seven finalists a chance to compete at Natural Products Expo East Pitch Slam in September.

Naturally Bay Area, the Oakland, California affiliate of Naturally Network, will host its fifth annual Pitch Slam & Community Celebration on May 10.
Seven entrepreneurs will pitch their brands to a panel of investors, retailers and peers that will decide who will represent in the Natural Products Expo East Pitch Slam this fall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In addition, the Bay Area winner will receive a free booth at the 2023 Expo East from New Hope Network; $5,000 cash, courtesy of Aspect Consumer Partners; 50 hours of booth planning and design, valued at $10,000, from Parabolic; and a suite of professional services valued at more than $20,000.
The Naturally Bay Area competitors represent a diverse variety of cultures and foods:
Dosa by DOSA—A modern, natural Indian brand making lassi and fresh sauces. Emily Gilels, founder and CEO.
Encina Farms—An innovative Iberico pork producer that also respects the tradition of the legendary Spanish breed. Helmut Drews, CEO.
Hooray Foods—Creator of a plant-based bacon that is free of gluten, soy and nuts but sizzles and tastes like pork bacon. Sri Artham, founder.
Pescavore—Using sustainable, wild-caught seafood, this brand makes snacks such as tuna jerky strips. Clarice Owens, co-founder.
Sāch Foods—First-generation Indian immigrants present paneer made with organic, grass-fed California milk. Tarush Agarwal, co-founder and president.
WAJU Water—Upcycling water left behind when suppliers dehydrate fruit, the brand adds bubbles, organic juice and extra oxidants. Chris Oates, founder and CEO.
¡Ya Oaxaca!—Chef Susana Trilling creates authentic mole sauces from Oaxaca, Mexico, in three flavors: negro, rojo and coloradito—all with house-made chocolate. Azul Couzens, managing partner.
Naturally Bay Area's event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, at Square Uptown Station, 1955 Broadway, Oakland. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., and the Pitch Slam starts at 4 p.m. A reception is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Early bird pricing, available through April 19, is $50 for members and $75 for non-members. Regular tickets will cost $75 for members and $100 for non-members. A $125 package includes a ticket to the Pitch Slam and a one-year membership in Naturally Bay Area.
