Native Foods Cafe makes its own tempeh and seitan from scratch daily, and then incorporates these vegan proteins into their world-cuisine dishes.
Homemade corn tortilla chips covered in black beans, Native Taco Meat, Native Chipotle Crema, and lots of other yummy stuff. My mom declared these the best nachos she's ever had.
Braised lemongrass tofu, pickled daikon and carrot ribbons, brown rice, fresh cilantro and basil in a whole-wheat wrap, served with a tangy, to-die-for peanut sauce.
This soup du jour was rich and creamy without any cream. All the soups are made from scratch, with changing selections every day.
Seared tofu steak on top of steamed veggies, greens, and brown rice with a lemongrass and ginger coconut milk curry. This entree is gluten-free, too!
I ordered this specifically because I wondered if they could pull off a faux chicken burger. Did they ever; I will order this again just because it's so delicious, with incredible texture that meat eaters will love. The menu says it's "what everyone would eat if chickens ran the ranch!"
Vanilla cake layered with almond creme and fresh sliced organic strawberries. Plus a little of the Native Foods philosophy ... and a corner of the Double Delight Brownie (which I ate over the next few days), made with fair-trade cocoa.
With a fast-casual approach and extensive menu, Native Foods Cafe vegan eatery appeals to all ages. The company also commits a portion of proceeds to local nonprofits and offers free cooking demos to share the love.
My mom with our entire lunch spread. Yes, we took home leftovers.

I am thrilled that Native Foods Café, a vegan eatery, just opened in Boulder, with plans to expand to Denver’s Highlands neighborhood and Ft. Collins. This creative café serves animal-product-free foods that appeal to anyone, not just vegans. With established locations in Los Angeles, Orange County, Portland, Palm Springs, Chicago, this vegan restaurant is poised to capitalize on the growing interest in nutritious, plant-based eating.
I was lucky enough to snag an invite to Boulder Native Foods Café’s soft opening on May 26, and went again with more New Hopers the following Friday. Tasty stuff!
