First thoughts: Protein fortification is on trend, nice to see this in a beverage. Though it's sweetened with Stevia, it's not cloyingly sweet. Still, flavor is not awful, but not a draw. Yay! 10 grams of whey protein per bottle, electrolytes, vitamins and minerals. Naturally colored with vegetable juice. Nay Not Certified Organic or Non-GMO Project Verified.
First thoughts: Love the gingery punch and not-too-sweet flavor of these Gingerades. Also, the ingredient deck is pretty simple with just water, lemon, agave and ginger or noni juice. Yay! Certified Organic and each bottle contains a full one-ounce serving of healthful Hawaiian-grown ginger or noni. Nay: Homegrown label doesn't stand out on the shelf.
Picky Bars First thoughts: For a sport performance bar, this doesn't taste bad. Love the focus on whole food ingredients that you can see in each bar. First product I've seen to guarantee the ideal 4:1 carbs to protein ratio. Yay! Gluten and dairy free and made with organic, non-gmo ingredients. Fun Millennial-esque eye-catching packaging and messaging.
First thoughts: Another popped chip? But hey, these taste really good. Yay! Caramelized Onion and Sundried Tomato Basil and Feta flavors satisfy intense snack-attack cravings. Chickpeas offer 3 grams of fiber and 3 grams of protein per serving. Nay Not Certified Organic or Non-GMO Project Verified and does contain soy.
First thoughts: Convenient, great ethnic flavors, but fish in a pouch? Yay! The back of each pouch lists a batch code that can be used on the company's website to see exactly where ingredients are sourced. Company emphasizes responsible fishing and only uses sustainably harvested seafood. Gluten-, dairy- and BPA-free. Nay Not Certified Organic or Non-GMO Project Verified.
First thoughts: This bar ought to capture the vegan audience since it's entirely plant based and delivers an impressive 20 grams of protein. I also like that it doesn't have that stale 3 Musketeers texture that other high-protein bars often suffer from. It's more like a dense rice crispy treat. Yay! Great flavor. Chia and flax seeds offer fiber and omegas. Coated in non-chalky chocolate. Though packaging doesn't yet reflect it, Non-GMO Project Verified. Nay Soy protein isolates are the first ingredient, which should be avoided.
First thoughts: Shape and texture remind of a better-for-you Sun Chip. Though these deliver a host of vitamins and minerals using spinach, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, beets and shiitake mushroom concentrates, you can't taste or see the vegetables at all. Yay! A great way for parents to sneak more nutrition into kids' diets. Like the use of whole-food ingredients. Fun packaging. Nay Very salty flavor. Packaing says "GMO Free" but corn flour and canola oil are listed in the ingredient deck. Not Certified Organic.
First thoughts: Innovative and delicious! Yay! Certified Organic, made with Non-GMO Ingredients, BPA-free carton.
