Are supplement companies skimming PubMed and cherry-picking claims based more on marketing dreams than science? It turns out you can find anything you are looking for … if you don’t look too closely. We searched the database for a selection of keywords and nutrition terms. Though words like “ghost” can be used in actual medical terms (ghost tumors, for instance), the results illustrate that PubMed can be a valuable tool, but it’s no place for haphazard fishing expeditions.
