I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream—frozen yogurt, gelato and popsicles, too! This sentiment is certainly true as the warmer weather approaches and the sun continues to shine well after dinnertime. After all, what’s better than an ice-cold ice cream cone—or any frozen treat, for that matter—on a hot day?

As such, it’s no surprise that the frozen desserts market is booming. According to Future Market Insights, the global market was valued at $100 billion in 2022 and is expected to experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.8% to reach a $176 billion valuation by 2032. The numbers don’t lie: Consumers love their frozen treats.

And neither does scientific research. Five years ago, a Harvard doctoral student named Andres Ardisson Korat conducted a study that found ice cream is actually good for you. Yes, you read that right. An unexpected conclusion Korat wasn’t looking for, he discovered that eating a half-cup of ice cream every day was associated with a lower risk of heart problems among Type 2 diabetics.

In a sea of frozen desserts that populate the freezers in grocery stores, it can be daunting to select a tasty treat with the perfect balance of sweetness and healthfulness. Don’t fret, we’ve compiled a list of 15 products that are better for you and the planet, yet full of flavor, which you can rely on to cure that sweet tooth.
