I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream—frozen yogurt, gelato and popsicles, too! After all, what’s better than an ice-cold ice cream cone—or any frozen treat, for that matter—on a hot day?
As such, it’s no surprise that the frozen desserts market is booming. According to Future Market Insights, the global market was valued at $100 billion in 2022 and is expected to experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.8% to reach a $176 billion valuation by 2032. The numbers don’t lie: Consumers love their frozen treats.
And neither does scientific research. Five years ago, a Harvard doctoral student named Andres Ardisson Korat conducted a study that found ice cream is actually good for you. Yes, you read that right. An unexpected conclusion Korat wasn’t looking for, he discovered that eating a half-cup of ice cream every day was associated with a lower risk of heart problems among Type 2 diabetics.
