Naturally Network’s Minority-Owned Fellowship program empowers diverse founders in the natural and organic CPG industry. Learn more about this program.
July 25, 2024
The consumer demand for minority-owned brands is evident, yet the path to success for diverse founders remains challenging. In response, Naturally Network’s Minority-Owned Fellowship, supported by NIQ, offers an invaluable opportunity for racially and ethnically under-represented business founders in the natural and organic CPG industry. This 16-week program is designed to support and advocate for early-stage founders, providing them with the tools, resources and community connections necessary for success.
Participants will gain critical business skills and knowledge and receive a complimentary badge to Natural Products Expo West 2025, where they can connect with retailers, investors and industry supporters. This networking exposure can be pivotal in taking a business to the next level.
Fellowship overview
The Minority-Owned Fellowship aims to dismantle the barriers to entry for diverse founders by offering a comprehensive program that includes four hands-on learning modules: startup operations and financial literacy, making your product, selling your product and building a lasting business. Participants will learn directly from industry experts in a virtual classroom setting.
The program also emphasizes community building and peer support. Each fellow will be paired with another participant, fostering a collaborative environment where they can share experiences and insights. Additionally, the Fellowship includes weekly facilitated fireside chats and networking opportunities with industry leaders and founders.
Eligible brands must meet these criteria: less than five years old; at least 51% minority-owned; have a CPG product on the market with annual sales between $10,000 and $250,000; willing to commit 10 hours per week to the program; able to attend Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, California, in March.
Why apply?
Sixteen brands will be accepted to this national cohort. NIQ is funding the fellowship for accepted racially and ethnically underrepresented founders. This is a unique chance to gain access to top-tier education, expert guidance and a supportive community dedicated to a founder's success.
Zach and Delisa Harper, founders of Funky Mello and 2022 KeHEGolden Ticket recipients, explain why they were interested in a fellowship. “We felt that it would help us access and find the tools we need to become successful business owners. We wanted to be challenged to think in different ways so we can better anticipate future hurdles and face them with confidence when the time comes," they said.
