East Editor Picks

After four days and thousands of products, the editors at NFM have selected their favorite things from Natural Products Expo East 2009. Check out their photos, notes, and more and see if your favorite thing was one of theirs too.

New Hope represents Natural Foods Merchandiser extremely well with a big banner and our beautiful covers featured. Did you see us there?

Cedric Smith of Paino Organics shows off their yummy new products. We especially loved the natural NatureNaise - yummy mayonaise that isn't really mayo at all.

We loved the Canus goat's milk products on the show. They not only had awesome lotions and soaps for humans, but also great dog treats and washes for our furrier friends.

Katie from Tasty Bite shows off the microwaveable-ready meals they offer. As a fairly lazy chef myself, anything that comes in the microwave and doesn't require dishes is alright by me.

Dr. Randall Merchant, professor of neurosurgery at Virginia Commonwealth University, sits and talks with NFM about Sun Chlorella, an algae that supports brain health. Look for more information on this interesting product on our site soon.

Keynote speaker and author of Food Matters, Mark Bittman spoke with the press Friday on his book and how to emphasize good eating to America. Our favorite quote? "It's very hard to cook crap."

Eco chef Bryant Terry is the author of Vegan Soul Kitchen: Fresh, Healthy, and Creative African American Cuisine. Terry was the featured speaker on Thursday during the 2009 Natural Products Expo East in Boston. Terry, who focuses on food inequity said, "There are communities that have little access to fresh, healthy food, but a plethora of bad food."

Loved these kids! While children were sparse during the week of Expo East, we did spot these darlings at a reception to raise money for the Vitamin Angels organization, which donates supplements to young children world wide. Nancy Williams from Columbia made all the women at her table giggle during the Expo breakfast when she claimed the sweetner her company distributes improves your sex life. We'll have what she's having.

Absolutely couldn't get enough of these olives, especially the ones stuffed with blue cheese. "Have all you want," said Allison Day of the Santa Barbara Olive Co. If only she would have had vodka.

Best booth on the show floor? One side's a pineapple, the other side's a pumpkin.

Sniffngo's personal aromapod: what a cool idea, personal aromatherapy on the go.

Chillin' at the Soyjoy booth, whose bean bags and massage chairs made it one of the more poular spots on the show floor.
