GTC Nutrition Expands Ingredients Portfolio with Purimune™ Prebiotic GOS

GTC Nutrition, a business unit of Corn Products International, Inc., (NYSE: CPO) today announced that it has launched a new value-added ingredient to expand its immune health solutions offerings – Purimune™, one of the highest purity galactooligosaccharides (GOS) available on the market.

Galactooligosaccharides such as Purimune™ prebiotic GOS occur naturally in human milk and can support immune system strength. According to the International Food and Information Council, more than half of consumers are interested in purchasing foods designed to address a specific health benefit such as improving immune function.

A high purity GOS – 90 percent – Purimune™ prebiotic GOS is available in powder form and delivers numerous benefits to manufacturers. Purimune™ prebiotic GOS is a prebiotic ingredient – a non-digestible carbohydrate that supports immune health by nourishing and stimulating the growth of beneficial microflora in the colon to support immunity. The gastrointestinal system is the body’s largest immune organ and, when properly balanced, supports healthy immune system function.

Purimune will be manufactured in South Korea at Corn Products’ Icheon plant, and distributed globally by GTC Nutrition, the health and wellness business unit of multinational ingredients company Corn Products International.
