Couldnt you have titled this a more appropriately? For example, "Great new products"? These companies work hard on a product to present and what is the point in calling them "losers". I thought the point was to build each other up and support local small and growing businesses. Not to try to be witty for a blog post. Maybe you would reconsider writing this article. I usually look to see the new products and was shocked to have read your comments.

Were I a loser in this category I would be seriously considering suing New Hope, the company that I paid to exhibit in their trade show having one of their employees trash my product. Did you refund their money before you decided to kill their product? It's the old saw, if you can't say something good say nothing at all....

Thank you for your comments. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion and am lucky to work for a company that believes the same. As the food editor for Natural Foods Merchandiser, I offer monthly unbiased reviews of new food products to inform retailers and consumers in their buying decisions. The goal is to highlight products that go the distance to support overall health and wellness as well as suggest how products that fall short could be improved. Since we're in the natural products industry hopefully with that goal in mind, I'm optimistic that companies that don't receive positive reviews will consider my feedback. I'm happy to say, a few have. If you're interested in details, shoot me an email. Ultimately though, reviews are opinions and in my monthly roundups and bi-weekly web series First Bite, I make a point to always state just that.

What are your quality standards?
How do you choose which products to review? Are these items from the new products showcase (thus filtered by additional fees) or from the show in general?

You can find information about the standards I look for here: http://newhope360.com/blog/why-consumers-deserve-good-and-bad-food-produ...
As for new products, what I choose is completely up to my discretion. I'm not influenced by companies that pay to be in the new product showcase.

I appreciated your truthful opinions on the products you chose to review. As a business owner, I look forward to new products that my customers will enjoy but love to have an idea of what people think about the product before I take a chance and order a whole case.
