For nearly a decade, Nourish America has helped people in need in America by providing a nutritional boost so they can live better, healthier lives. But the current economic downturn has hit this philanthropic organization hard—in the last four months Nourish America has lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in pledged and projected donations. Because of this, Nourish America lacks the necessary money to run its programs in 2009. If Nourish America can’t raise $198,000 it may be forced to cease operations. According to an e-mail from Michael Morton, the executive director, that would mean 32,000 needy children and 34,000 low income seniors will no longer get the high-quality nutritional support they currently get every day. The organization also won’t be there to support victims of wildfires, hurricanes and floods. Nourish America needs donations.
